How deep tuna fishing (Poito) works

A unique and authentic local technique targeting tuna!
We drop baits down to 100–300 m using drifting buoys.
Empty lines are brought back up with an electric winch. The tuna are fought and hauled up by hand!
This technique is especially suited to anglers who are comfortable with a more physical and active style of fishing.
It is more likely to cause seasickness than trolling, as it is a static fishing method: the boat moves with the wind and the swell.
Catches are never guaranteed, but the fish caught is shared with you!

2026 - 2027 rates

Bookings are for a standard 4-hour trip.
To increase your chances of finding fish, a trip of 6 hours or more may be suggested the day before around 4 PM, depending on the latest weather forecast, sea conditions and boat availability.

4h on a private boat (3 people max)

1 or 2 people: 65,000 XPF - 544 EUR

3 people: 75,000 XPF - 628 EUR

Trip extensions: 12,000 XPF - 100 EUR per additional hour.

Note: decided together the day before, with the latest weather update around 4 PM. Cash payment only, in XPF or EUR; there is no card terminal on board.

Meet at 6:45 AM for a briefing, then departure at 7:00 AM.
